The Gift of the Nile
In the northern reaches of the motherland lies cradle of civilization. Egypt (or as the locals called it, Misr) is an ancient, biblical land steeped in mystery and grandeur. Here, the sun’s golden rays kiss the sacred sands in way that visitors like me find too harsh, but to the locals it is just right.
Known as “the gift of the Nile”, this venerable country owes its very existence to the mighty river that has nurtured its earth for millennia. The Nile, with its gentle flow and life-giving waters, carved the path for mighty pharaohs, grand temples, monuments, and indelible legends. A once barren land, thus blossomed, allowing civilization to flourish in the heart of the desert.
From the bustling streets of Cairo to the majestic pyramids of Giza, to the enduring city of Alexandria that rose with majesty from the ancient ashes of the man it is named after, Misr whispers stories of divine purpose.
Their history is written in the hieroglyphs that adorn its temples, the streets of the early city of Alexandria, and in the timeless serenity of the waters in the Mediterrenea Sea that welcomes it with an embrace.
I was privileged to visit Misr for a few days, and I carried my camera. I did not know I would get this much content, but that was a function of my own limitations rather than the reality of Misr’s beauty.
And as the sun set over this ancient land, casting a golden hue over the country, I felt the lasting spirit of Egypt; forever grateful to the gift of exploration that brought me here, and yearning for all that I did not get to see.

And what a tragedy it would be if we did not capture the memories we make. If we let the beauty of moments pass by unnoticed, unseen, unremembered.
