The highest peak on Mt. Kenya is called Batian, named after the ancient maasai oloibon; Mbatian. The towering peak rises majestically, its red rock contrasting with the fresh snow. A breathtaking display of nature’s power. Climbing Batian is a significantly more challenging endeavor than trekking to Mount Kenya’s third-highest peak, Point Lenana, from which this photo was taken.
